June 30 - I bear the wounds of Jesus on my body.

Tomb of Mother Theresa of Jesus Gerhardinger,
Bavarian Province Motherhouse, Munich
The suffering and blood of the first Christians became the seed of many thousand others. Jesus must become visible in his members. With Paul every true Christian must be able to say, “I bear the wounds of Jesus on my body.”

June 29 - The light of faith ...

Icon: Hungary
2013: Pope Francis' encyclical Lumen Fidei was published.

"Faith transforms the whole person precisely to the extent that he or she becomes open to love. Through this blending of faith and love we come to see the kind of knowledge which faith entails, its power to convince and its ability to illumine our steps." (LF 26) Read the whole text on the Vatican website.

In God alone, the almighty, the all wise and merciful, we place our trust, and this trust will not be put to shame. We will then, with his grace, persevere resolutely in his service and hold fast to his church, against which the gates of hell cannot prevail.

June 27 - Away ... with all touchiness!

Rose-ringed parakeets, Generalate, Rome
How would we endure prison, fetters, and a martyr’s death if we cannot accept a word or a slight affront?  Away then, with all touchiness!

June 26 - ... mutually bear our weaknesses ...

Convent chapel,
Amberg, Germany
Peter Küschel, 1990
Should we not gladly be the last here so that we become the first in the other world?

Should we not mutually bear our weaknesses in Christian patience and thus fulfill the law of the Lord?

St. Bernard says, “It is not of trifling importance when one uses every opportunity to conquer oneself in small things also.” When several small brooks flow together, they grow into a great river.
