1983 In the presence of Pope John Paul II, the Congregation for the Cause of the Saints promulgated a decree declaring Mother Theresa a woman of heroic virtue, which means that she practiced the virtues of faith, hope, charity, prudence, justice, fortitude and moderation in a heroic manner. (The Beatification process continued. Mother Theresa was beatified in November 1985.)
