1950 Sisters M. Lelia Pond, Cosma Vettese, Omer Obermark and Paraclita Bartoli officially opened the first SSND house in Rome, in Monteverde Nuovo, at Via Tarquinio Vipera 16. (Over the years, the house was used as a language school - English, German, French, Latin - and a preparatory school for vocations to the Italian Province. It was sold in 1991 to the Sisters of the Sacred Heart.)
